We will pick you from your hotel with our mini-van. We visit some of the most traditional wineries of Santorini and our first stop is at an actual vineyard on the volcanic soils. Winemaking has been connected with the island’s culture for more than 3000 years and some methods used in the ancient years remain intact even nowadays. The unique means of production along with the indigenous varieties result to awarded wines consumed locally and exported to all over the world.

Our licensed English-speaking oenologist makes a mini wine-tasting tutorial and gives you hints about Santorini’s vineyard, which is the oldest of Europe. Findings from Akrotiri excavations suggest that winemaking was among the most popular occupation of those years. Currently, the grapes – in most cases – grow in the unique basket vines, so that they get protected from the strong winds of the summer.

Then, we visit 3 traditional wineries and cellars in the countryside of the island. All of them are featured in respected wine magazines such as “Wine & Spirits” and “Decanter”. We taste 12 carefully selected wines from Santorini and Greece and we enjoy an assortment of local delicacies (cheese, salami and olives) in one of the wineries. Some of the varieties to taste are Assyrtico, Athiri, Aidani, Mantilaria, Voudomato and Mavrotragano which produce “Santorini” (Appellation of Origin Santorini of High Quality), Nichteri and Vinsanto (sweet red wine made of sun-dried grapes).

We take you back to your hotel or Airbnb with our modern, Mercedes-Benz mini-van.
