Description

Excellent combination of sightseeing, archaeological monument sand stops for swimming, lunch and wine-tasting.

At first, you are guided to the Prehistoric Museum of Santorini through its most special findings. The selection brings into life Akrotiri of the 18th and 17th century BC, one of the most important centers of prehistoric Aegean Sea, unfold in front of you.

We continue to Akrotiri Archaeological site, which is one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Mediterranean Sea. Along with a licensed guide, you discover the secrets of this town, which was initially inhabited during the Late Neolithic time in the 4th millennium BC. While at its peak of development in the Minoan Bronze Age, it was destroyed by the Great Theran Eruption (17th century BC) and buried under tons of volcanic ash, the layers of which preserved the famous frescoes (wall paintings) of Akrotiri, artworks and objects of everyday life. It is believed that Akrotiri might be the inspiration for Plato’s story about the lost Atlantis city.

After Akrotiri, we go to Perissa black beach, where you have free time for swimming, a nice sunbath on the hot black volcanic sand and lunch or enjoy lunch in one of the waterside little restaurants. Perissa is one of the most iconic beaches on the island featuring black sand, crystal clear waters and excellent choices for lunch, cocktails and drinks.

Your next stop is Prophet Elias, the highest point of Santorini with spectacular, panoramic views of the only habitable Caldera in the world and its surroundings just the perfect location for pictures.

You finish your excursion by enjoying breathtaking views of the Caldera while tasting the island’s famous wine.
