Akrotiri, locates 15 Km away from Fira has been famous worldwide for its famous archaelogical sites of Greece, During the middle ages, it has been one of the castles of Santorini.

The village Emporio is one of the biggest villages with the largest permanent population. The village is built on a plain, and for many years was the island's commercial centre. At the entrance of the village, is the church of St. Nicholas Marmarites, built of marble from the ruins of the ancient temple of the goddess Vassilia, which originally occupied this site. Emporio also had two castles both built by the Venetians, Casteli and north of the village a strong, square building named Goulas.

Fira, with 2113 inhabitants (2001), is the capital of Santorini. It has been built on the precipice, on the rim of the caldera some 260 meters above the sea level. The volcano lies exactly opposite, sill emitting puffs of steam.

Imerovigli is actually a neighbourhood of Fira village, as it is only 2 km away from the capital of Santorini. Imerovigli is mostly famous for its beautiful sunset, that it is called "balcony to the Aegean". Its houses are built amphitheatrically around the caldera and it is crossed by narrow, paved paths.

Kamari is a seaside village on the southeast side of Santorini, located 9 Km away from Fira, in the foothill of “Mesa Vouno”. According to the latest census (2001), there are 1352 inhabitants in Kamari.
