 1. Drive to the village of OiaOia is one of the most beautiful villages of Santorini, famous for its magnificent sunset. It located 14 Km North to Fira. On your way to Oia you will enjoy driving on a road full of red volcanic rocks and breathtaking view to the ocean view. Alternatively you can reach Oia driving on the road through the village of Vourvoulos (passing through the beaches Baxedes, Pori). You can also visit the Ammoudi port of Oia. 2. Drive to the Lighthouse in Akrotiri The lighthouse of Akrotiri is one of the most beautiful spots in Santorini and offers spectacular panoramic view to the Caldera and the sunset. The lighthouse of Akrotiri is located 18 Km south west to Fira. 3. Drive to the Prophitis Elias Monastery in Pyrgos The Prophitis Elias Monastery lies on top of the mountain of Prophitis Ilias and is located 4 Km south to Pyrgos village. This is the highest point of Santorini (586 meters). To reach it, on the exit of Pyrgos take that road, which will lead you to the top of the mountain after 10 minutes. 4. Drive to Perivolos beach The beach of Perivolos is close to Perissa at distance of 3 kilometers. This is a black sandy beach with crystal clear blue water. Distance from Fira 12 Km. 5. Drive to the Santo Wines winery in Pyrgos Santo Wines was founded in the year 1947 and their premises are located at the village of Pygros, Santorini. The large complex of Santo Wines is a point of attraction for the visitors, both for the wines produced and for the amazing caldera view. Distance from Fira 5 Km. 6. Drive to the Ancient Thera Archeological site in Kamari The second important period in the history of Santorini is linked with the city of Ancient Thira. The excavations there, which began in 1896 by Baron Hiller von Gaertrinken, revealed ruins of a town which bore evidence of settlement as early as the 9th century BC. The archaeological site of Ancient Thera is located on top of Mesa Vouno mountain and can be reached from Kamari village. Distance from Fira 10 Km. 7. Drive to the Red Beach in Akrotiri The Red beach is one of the most popular and attractive of beaches in the island of Santorini. This is situated near the archaeological site of Ancient Akrotiri and its name gives a lot of information to the visitors. You can leave your car at the local parking and walk (10’) to the beach. Distance from Fira 15 Km. 8. Drive to Imerovigli Drive to Imerovigli village of Santorini and enjoy the fantastic view to the caldera and volcano. Also walk to see Skaros, which is located just in front of Imerovigli and you, will see what remains of the old Medieval castle. Once being the capital of Santorini, Skaros was built by the Venetians, which dominated Santorini in 1207 A.D. Distance from Fira 6 Km. |
